THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME - REMEMBRANCE TOUR


Follow the footsteps of soldiers of various nationalities who were involved in the Battle of the Somme during 1916 and 1918. Numerous preserved trenches, memorials, and cemeteries recount the horrific reality that was lived by British, New Zealander, Australian, Canadian and South African soldiers. You may also like to discover the works of authors or poets such as Blaise Cendrars, J.R.R Tolkien or Ernst Jünger.

This tour can cover several different themes :
For example, the attack on the Hindenburg line on 29 September 1918, the decisive action of the 29th and 30th American Divisions, the 3rd and 5th Australian Divisions, the 46th British Division and the last Australian Battle at Montbrehain.
The memorial dedicated to the 4th Australian Division offers an excellent view of the battlefields and will allow you be immersed in one of the most heroic and dramatic battles. From the Saint Quentin canal to Bony you will also be able to see ruins and some of the German defense system.
The visit continues by walking in the steps of Rawlinson's 4th Army to the village of Montbrehain.
