THE FRENCH FRONT

From the end of 1914 to the beginning of 1915, the Swiss poet, Blaise Cendrars fought with his unit in Frise in the trench called la Grenouillère, he held "his little war in the big war" (from "The Severed Hand").

1916 - The French Army aligned itself along a front of 12km (greatly reduced due to the need for soldiers in Verdun) from Maricourt to Lihons. It was their mission to back the British right side. The July 1st attack was successful for the French Army.
